Ruth's Reflections

National Theatre Live is a project whereby live London performances are filmed and beamed to movie theatres throughout the world.  This is the first such show I’ve seen and I thoroughly recommend it.  Watching it is like being in the audience of the live show.  You see and hear the actual audience, and during the interval there was an interview with the playwright and a short film about the costumes.

The Audience

This play tells of the private weekly audience which each Prime Minister has with Queen Elizabeth, and during her reign there have been twelve Prime Ministers (so far).  Helen Mirren, reprising her role in “The Queen” is simply superb, and so are the other members of the cast including those who play the young Elizabeth.  There are even two corgis.
